Kristin Phillips wins the Conservator of the Year Award
Principal Textiles Conservator at Artlab Australia Kristin Phillips recently won the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Materials (AICCM) Conservator of the Year Award.
Kristin received this accolade at the award ceremony held at the Adelaide Club during the 2013 AICCM National Conference held in Adelaide this year from 23 to 25 October.
It was a great honour for Kristin to receive this recognition as she has had a remarkable career in textiles conservation spanning twenty five years.
Her skills and her advocacy to the conservation profession has lead Kristin to accomplish tremendous highlights in her vocation.
These achievements have included project managing the complex conservation treatment of the historically significant Eureka Flag; travelling to India to conserve the sari of Indira Gandhi and the trousers of Rajiv Gandhi worn when they were assassinated in India. For Kristin, this was a particularly moving and poignant experience in her career.
Kristin has worked on many textiles in her time at Artlab and is a marvellous ambassador and valued colleague in the conservation profession.
